My Politics

I identify myself as a Republican because I believe in a limited role for government. In my view, the proper functions of government are:

  • protecting liberty,
  • protecting person,
  • protecting property, and
  • establishing a reasonable degree of order.

I support a strong defense to keep the United States the preeminent world superpower. I am a fiscal conservative but I am not a deficit hawk. There are situations in which deficit spending is necessary and advantageous. I favor less government, less taxes and more freedom.

Winning formulas are:

  • less government = more freedom
  • government < freedom

I support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America from all enemies foreign or domestic. My political views on ...

  • Commerce: Capitalism has proven itself to be the most effective economic system ever devised. Commerce should be regulated so we play by the rules.
  • Economics: In times of recessions reduce taxes & engage deficit spending to stimulate economic growth (Keynesian-Supply Sider).
  • Civil Rights: All should have equal rights & liberties. All should have the same protection under law (14th Amendment).
  • Taxes: Support lower marginal rates.
  • Death Penalty: Absolutely, have the death penalty — government must be a terror to evil & execute justice.
  • Gun Control: Citizens have the right to bear Arms. It is an individual right that cannot be infringed (2nd Amendment).
  • Social Security: Have limited privatization — allow percentage to be invested in the market. Have unlimited privatization if invested in U.S. treasuries. The U.S. government has never defaulted.
  • Defense: Peace through strength sums up good defense policy! The U.S. must & indeed can remain the dominant power in world affairs. The DOD should continuously modernize & compensate competitively.
  • Environment: Clean air, clean water & reasonable protection are in order.
  • Welfare: Reform welfare further to instill independence and reward work.
  • Liberty: Expand liberty despite moralistic objections. A Supreme Court Justice has said “Our obligation is to define the liberty of all, not to mandate our own moral code.”
  • Privacy: Cherish & preserve privacy. It is implied in the 4th Amendment.
  • Education: Have quality teachers who are accountable. Implement choice in education and schools will have to be effective to survive.
  • Energy: Support nuclear energy, ethanol fuels & attempt to eliminate dependence on oil.
  • Trade: In a word, globalize. Protectionism & isolation can never work in an interdependent global economy. Trade should be free & fair.
  • Immigration: Support work visas, orderly immigration and secure borders.
  • Terror: Don't accept defeat in Iraq, bomb Iran's nuclear capability back to the "stone age", and exterminate all who use tactics of terror (not only Al-Qaeda).
  • Health Care: Oppose new government entitlements and support the free market.

Other views on issues will be defined as they arise. See who top my list as Great Republicans and why.
